What is “Text Gene Project” series?

“Text Gene Project” is a text animated image series work created by Dabeiyuzhou, a digital artist in Asia. Known as extremely exquisite and transcendent virtual world, this series is a combination of eastern religious culture and cyberpunk. Dabeiyuzhou has strong personal style in the field of contemporary art, even the field of crypto art.

Dabeiyuzhou has collected a large interdisciplinary corpus to build out a vast textual gene pool. After the computer randomly paired to generate the lexical parentage, the artist selected some aesthetically pleasing phrases and processed them with algorithms to create a more complete and contextual audio-visual combination, filling in the video for these poetry-like texts with constantly generated and changing images. “Text Gene Project” shares the similar principles of “Gibberish Poems”, demonstrating the logic of the artist working with the vast amount of computer-generated information: the algorithm is a generative tool and at the same time a mentor for the artist.

“Text Gene Project” series consist of 31 pieces, which is displayed on MetaOpus, a valuable digital collectibles issuer & marketplace. Some pieces of this series have been collected by VulcanDAO, NFT-focused DAO in Asia.
